A swimming pool salt cell system is responsible for converting salt into chlorine through electrolysis, keeping your pool sanitized without the need for traditional chlorine additives. Over time, calcium and mineral deposits can build up on the cell plates, reducing efficiency and chlorine output
Every three months or every 500 hours of operation.
If you have hard water, clean it 3-4 times per season.
If you frequently use your pool, clean it 2-3 times per season.
Check weekly for scale buildup and clean immediately if needed.
Turn off the pool system and unplug the salt cell.
Remove the salt cell by loosening the union nuts.
Rinse the cell with a garden hose to remove loose debris.
Prepare a cleaning solution using one part muriatic acid to four parts water (always add acid to water, not the other way around).
Soak the salt cell in the solution for 10-15 minutes or until bubbling stops.
Dispose of the solution safely and rinse the cell thoroughly.
Reinstall the salt cell, ensuring all connections are secure.
Turn the system back on and check that the cell is functioning properly
